BlockCard Visa Debit Card: Features, Benefits & Rewards for Crypto Users

Learn about Blockcard’s crypto Visa card and how it has transformed the concept of digital asset spending.

The Card

The BlockCard Visa debit card was developed in response to BlockCard’s recognition of a significant gap between digital currencies and the real-world economy. Holders of digital assets had almost no options when it came to using their digital currencies throughout everyday life. What’s the point of owning digital currency if you can’t even use it? Thus, the BlockCard crypto visa card was created to bridge the gap, taking digital assets, and providing a pathway to spendable currency.

The BlockCard Visa debit card comes in a variety of forms, allowing customers to choose the card that matches their specific needs. Owners of the cryptocurrency debit card will enjoy numerous benefits such as no transaction, exchange, or deposit fees, options regarding the type of card they prefer, and widespread acceptance from some of the most popular merchants on the planet.

Understanding that each customer has different needs, BlockCard offers multiple versions of its crypto debit card. They range from a virtual card for online commerce to a fully metallic card that can be used anywhere Visa is accepted.

BlockCard Features

Woman using a credit card to make an online purchase.

Crypto debit cards typically provide holders with unique features unavailable to traditional debit cards due to the nature of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. For example, BlockCard’s crypto Visa card supports deposits from thirteen different cryptocurrencies whereas a traditional bank account normally only accepts one form of fiat currency.

Multi-Currency Support

BlockCard supports thirteen different cryptocurrencies, including BCH, BTC, and ETH. All deposited funds will automatically convert to TERN, which is BlockCard’s default spendable asset. The TERN in a user’s account will instantly convert to USD when the crypto Visa is used at any of the over 50 million merchants worldwide. Moreover, BlockCard maintains its pace with the digital age, supporting Apple, Samsung, and Google pay through smart technology.

Fees

The fee structure for BlockCard’s crypto Visa card throws away the playbook crafted by major credit card companies in an effort to provide the best possible product at an affordable cost to consumers.

Deposit Fee Exchange Fee Withdrawal Fee Monthly Sub Fee* PIN Transaction Fee ATM Cash Withdrawal Fee ATM Balance Inquiry
Domestic $0.00 $0.00 $0.00 $0.00 $1.00 $3.00 $0.50
International $0.00 $0.00 $0.00 $0.00 $2.00 $3.50 N/A

*If spending over $750/mo at POS merchants, otherwise $5.00 fee.

App

BlockCard knows that customers want a way to manage their finances from a single application. The app does it all from the touch of your fingertips, allowing you to check your balance, deposit funds, send money, and even refer friends. The dashboard provides real-time insights into your account balance and spending power in USD.

As you make deposits, withdrawals, and transactions, the dashboard will update instantly to ensure accurate information. The management of one’s own financial well-being is of the utmost importance to BlockCard and its customer base.

Staking Rewards

Finally, BlockCard has its own rewards program based on a process called “staking.”

Staking refers to participating in transaction validation on a Proof of Stake (PoS) network by locking up tokens as a “stake.” On these blockchains, anyone with a minimum-required balance of the network’s cryptocurrency can validate transactions and thus earn staking rewards.

BlockCard allows its customers to stake TERN to receive rewards every time they make a purchase using their crypto debit card.

BlockCard partnered with Ternio to help make their crypto rewards card dream a reality. Ternio’s digital currency, TERN, functions as the default spendable asset if you’ve opened a BlockCard account. TERN is also used in the BlockCard ecosystem to earn staking rewards. TERN staking is the process of holding funds in your TERN wallet to receive rewards in relation to the amount of TERN you stake.

The number of TERN necessary to stake for the desired return

The image above illustrates the number of TERN necessary to stake for the desired return. As you spend more on your BlockCard, the more TERN you’re rewarded. It’s as if you’re getting paid to shop!
